The Semantic Knowledge Indexing Platform (SKIP) is a server-based software system that improves both the precision and recall of information assembly and retrieval. It provides a platform for indexing and pointing to the knowledge in your dispersed databases and incoming news streams. It allows you to search for a complete idea, not simply for a keyword, and you can use complete sentences in natural language, in the vocabulary of your profession.

SKIP employs multiple professional knowledge bases from the Unified Medical Language System to index the source material. This set of ontologies recognizes over 1 million concepts and their relationships from all areas of medicine.

A new way to search

When you use SKIP, the question you ask is first analyzed by the SKIP natural language engine for syntax (parts of speech), and then for its underlying medical meaning (semantics). You receive visual feedback of the extracted medical meaning using our Keynet representation. Keynets show concepts joined by relationships, and these linkages show a fragment of a network of knowledge that SKIP has recognized.

Then SKIP will compare that abstracted idea with millions of fragments extracted from source materials. The results are presented to the searcher in ranked order of fit-to-meaning, so you can browse very efficiently for perfect or partial knowledge matches.
